She Stoops to Conquer is a comedy by Oliver Goldsmith that premiered in London in 1773. This play is a favorite of English literature and theater classes in English-speaking countries.
It is one of the few plays of the 18th century that retains its charm and is still performed regularly. The play has been adapted into a film several times, including in 1914 and 1923.
