A tragedy written by Euripides in 408 B.C., describing the events of Orestes murder of his mother. Euripides (480 ? c. 406 BC) was a classical Athenian tragedy writer. Along with Aeschylus and Sophocles, he is one of only three ancient Greek tragedians whose plays have survived completely.

On the advice of the god Apollo, Orestes killed his mother, Clytemnestra, to avenge the death of his father, Agamemnon.
