Summary
Mallory is a brilliant student and a natural leader. He is also very independent and he is determined to do what he believes is right. When he finds the treasure, he knows he has to report it to the authorities, but he also knows that doing so will likely result in the government confiscating the treasure.
Mallory is torn between her duty to obey the law and her personal desire to keep the treasure for herself.
