Summary
The story is divided into two parts. The first part dealt with Daniel's shipwreck and his first years on the island, while the second dealt with Daniel's spiritual awakening and eventual return to civilization.

In the first part of the story, Daniel is the inevitable victim of the situation he finds himself in. He is stranded on an uninhabited island with no food, water or shelter, and is also constantly threatened by wild animals.

However, over time, Daniel begins to adapt to the environment. He learns how to find food and water and builds shelters to protect himself from danger. He begins to develop a relationship with the island's wildlife.

Daniel's spiritual awakening begins in the second part of the story. He begins to have visions of higher powers and begins to see the world in a new way. He also begins composing music that expresses his new understanding of the universe.

In the end, Daniel decides to leave the island and return to civilization. But he never returns to being the same person he was before. He is now a changed man with a new understanding of himself and the world around him.
