The Goose-step: A Study of American Education is a book by Upton Sinclair published in 1923.
Sinclair argues that American education is designed to produce obedient workers who do not question the status quo. He cites numerous examples of how universities promote conformity and discourage critical thinking.
Gusstep was a controversial book when it was published and was attacked by many in the academic community. However, it was later recognized as a classic of educational criticism and continues to be read and cited today.
