Summary
The story begins with a man named Carson who works as a miner in the Yukon Territory. He is tired of poverty and dreams of finding a way to get rich quickly.
One day, while Carson was exploring a cave, he came across a strange machine. The machine is made of metal and stone and has a large wheel in the center. Carson doesn't know what the machine is, but he gets curious and decides to turn it on.
When Carson turns the machine on, it begins to glow with a strange light, and he watches in amazement as the machine turns the rocks around it into gold. Carson realizes that he has found a way to get rich quickly.
Carson takes his machine to his cabin and begins using it to turn everything he can find into gold. He became very rich, but he was also very lonely. He has no friends and is afraid that someone will steal his machine... ..
One day, a stranger comes to Carson. The stranger tells Carson that he knows about the machine and that he wants to buy it. Carson refuses to sell the machine and the stranger leaves. But the next day, Carson is found dead and his machine disappears... .
