"Exploration Team" is a science fiction novel by American author Murray Leinster, originally published in the March 1956 issue of Astounding Science Fiction. It won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1956. In 1998, Gardner Dozois described the "exploration team" as "tense, tense and scary".

요약

Summary
The novel is set in a future time when humanity has begun to colonize planets in other solar systems. The Colonial Survey Agency declares the (fictional) planet of Loren Two off-limits due to extremely dangerous native animals. Despite the decree, the Colonial Survey approves an experimental colony on the planet. Almost simultaneously, the overcrowded inhabitants of another planet establish an unauthorized reconnaissance base on Lorraine 2. Neither group is aware of the other's existence. The approved colony is well-funded and consists of a dozen people equipped with advanced robots and other equipment. The unauthorized scouting team consists of a man named Huyghens (unnamed), an eagle, and four specially bred Kodiak bears. Bears were bred to have the psychological characteristics of dogs, making them friendly towards humans and able to work as a team... .
