This book deals with sexual violence and feminism from three different standpoints, theoretical, empirical and practice-oriented. The first part of this book is concerned about theoretical underpinnings as well as historical background of feminism and Korea while the second part examines concrete empirical problems of ¡°women as victims of violence.¡± Addressed to practical issues, the third part focuses on ¡°women as agency of change.¡± Written during the 1990¡¯s and 2000¡¯s, and mostly based on the Korean experience of sexual violence and feminism, this book is intended to pursue a dialogue between the Eastern and Western scholars by sensitizing our attention to the relationship between theory and women¡¯s reality or between academic research and social movement.
This ebook edition is published to reilluminate the important periods of 1990¡¯s and 2000¡¯s when researches on sexual violence and feminism began and boomed in Korea.
