"Roderick Hudson" is an early novel by Henry James, first published as a serial in 1875 and then as a book in 1876.
This novel tells the life of Roderick Hudson, a young and extremely talented sculptor from Northampton, Massachusetts. Rowland Mallet, a wealthy Bostonian with a keen interest in art, takes an interest in Roderick and offers to sponsor him, and he asks the young artist to take him to Italy to develop his talents. Hudson gladly accepts, and the two embark on a journey that will test their friendship and Roderick's character.

Summary
The novel is divided into two parts. The first part begins in Rome, where Roderick is initially inspired by the city's beauty and history. Although he created many impressive sculptures, he also became involved in a love triangle with Mallett's cousin Christina Wright and an Italian woman named Mary Garland.

The second part of the novel takes place where Roderick goes to Switzerland to recover from a nervous breakdown. He remains tormented by his relationship with Christina and is no longer able to produce art. He eventually dies in a tragic accident... .
