Summary
In "The Flying U's Last Stand," the story continues with the adventures and misadventures of the cowboys at the Flying U Ranch.
This is how Flying U. Old J. G. Whitmore fought tenaciously against changing circumstances. And he fought wisely and well. When he saw that the pastures were shrinking and the roads to watering points were blocked by long barbed wire fences, he sent his herds deeper into the wilderness to search for grazing in hidden creeks and deep, isolated canyons. He cut more hay for winter feed and sowed alfalfa in the pastures to increase yields. In the fall, he transported old and thin cattle along with fat steers to improve the blood of the herd and raise larger cattle.
