"The Seven Vagabonds" is a short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, first published in 1835 as part of his collection "Twice-Told Tales". This is a charming and humorous story about a group of wanderers who take refuge in an abandoned mansion during a storm.
The seven outcasts are a diverse group, each with their own unique background and personality. These include peddlers, poets, showmen, soldiers, mechanics, farmers, and innkeepers. Despite their differences, they form a temporary family and share their stories and experiences with each other.
As they settle into the mansion, they discover hidden treasure and discuss what to do with it. Their discussion reveals their individual values and priorities, leading to surprising and heartwarming conclusions.

'Seven Wanderers' is known for exploring themes such as friendship, camaraderie, and the search for meaning and belonging. Hawthorne's storytelling skills and wit shine in this delightful tale that offers a glimpse into the human condition and the power of community.

Summary
Rambling on foot in the spring of my life and the summer of the year, I came one afternoon to a point which gave me the choice of three directions. Straight before me, the main road extended its dusty length to Boston; on the left a branch went towards the sea, and would have lengthened my journey a trifle of twenty or thirty miles; while by the right-hand path, I might have gone over hills and lakes to Canada, visiting in my way the celebrated town of Stamford. On a level spot of grass, at the foot of the guidepost, appeared an object, which, though locomotive on a different principle, reminded me of Gulliver¡¯s portable mansion among the Brobdignags.
