"Morgue Ship" is a science fiction short story written by Ray Bradbury, first published in 1944. The novel is part of his collection "Dark Carnival", which includes several of Bradbury's early works exploring themes of death, technology and human nature.
This story is a science fiction novel set in the era of space warfare.
For ten years, Sam Burnett has been on a mission to retrieve the bodies of soldiers killed in space wars. He is tired of this. He and his colleague Rice accidentally discover Lethla, a high-ranking enemy official. Lethla is in fact alive and takes control of their ship.
Lethla asks them to rescue their leader Kriere, and Burnett pretends to rescue Kriere, but then suddenly kills him and attacks Lethla... .
This story depicts the meaninglessness of war, sacrifice, and humans making extreme choices for peace.

Summary
This was Burnett's last trip. Three more shelves to fill with space-slain warriors?and he would be among the living again.

He heard the star-port grind open, and the movement of the metal claws groping into space, and then the star-port closed.
There was another dead man aboard the Constellation.
Sam Burnett shook his long head, trying to think clearly. Pallid and quiet, three bodies lay on the cold transparent tables around him; machines stirred, revolved, hummed. He didn't see them. He didn't see anything but a red haze over his mind.
