Summary
Before science, there was superstition. After science, there will be ... what? The biggest, most staggering, most final fact of them all!

Fritz Leiber's "Dr. Kometevsky's Day" is set in a futuristic world. When Mars' satellites suddenly disappear, the world falls into chaos. Scientists are trying to explain this phenomenon, but some people believe that Dr. I believe it is the change in the positions of the planets predicted in Kometevsky's old book. The main character's family tries to understand the situation, paying particular attention to the dreams of young Dotty, who has ESP abilities. In the end, it is revealed that Earth and other planets are actually giant spaceships and belong to alien beings who have been in hiding for a long time. They tried to run away from their pursuers, but eventually reconciled after realizing that their pursuers had also changed. The story ends with humanity becoming part of a larger cosmic society. This novel raises fundamental questions about humanity's position and role, and makes us reconsider human existence from a cosmic perspective.
