Earth could not stop the Enemy's remorseless advance from outer space. Neither could the Enemy!

The story depicts the Prospero and its crew fleeing to the outskirts of the solar system to avoid battle with the enemy. They are ambushed by the enemy near Uranus, but attempt a risky operation to use the planet's atmosphere to slow them down.
Among the crew, Jackson is a telepath who can read the thoughts of his enemies. He discovers the surprising truth that the enemy is actually a space whale-like creature.
Prospero successfully enters the orbit of Uranus after going through an extreme deceleration process. However, in the process her captain is killed and part of her fleet is destroyed.
The surviving crew members receive a message that all enemies are dead and that they are scheduled to be rescued... ..
