Reading Science Fiction Novels in English _ Sunfire! by Edmond Hamilton
"Sunfire" is one of Hamilton's later works, published in 1962. While the novel retains his typical space adventure style, it also shows more mature themes and complex character development.

The story is set in the solar system. Humanity has colonized the entire solar system, but the extreme heat and radiation of the sun has prevented us from reaching the sun itself. However, scientists eventually develop technology that allows us to land on the surface of the sun.

The main character, astronaut David Starr, is selected for this dangerous mission. His mission is to land on the surface of the sun and investigate what he finds there. However, during this exploration, he makes an unexpected discovery that could have a major impact on the future of humanity.

Through this novel, Hamilton explores scientific curiosity, the spirit of exploration, and the human fear and fascination with the unknown. At the same time, it raises philosophical questions about survival in extreme environments, challenging the limits of humanity, and humanity's place in the universe.

"Sunfire" is a great example of Hamilton's extraordinary imagination and scientific speculation. Centered around the idea of exploring the sun, which was revolutionary at the time, it combined an exciting adventure story with deep scientific and philosophical thinking.

As is typical of Hamilton's later works, the work goes beyond simple space adventures to provide deeper insights into human nature and our role in the universe. "Sunfire" is considered one of the most important works that contributed to the development of the science fiction genre.

Summary
He was walking in the pine grove, with the resinous smell of the trees in his nostrils. Once he had met a smell vaguely like it, far away from Earth. Forget about that, a voice said in his mind, but he would never forget.

Everything in the old house seemed just the same as it had been before he went to space.
It was incredible, thought Hugh Kellard, standing in the front hall and looking around the silent, sunlit rooms, how little it had changed. The life was gone out of it now, all the people and voices and the comings and goings when his grandfather still lived and he had visited here. But that had been long ago, and he was amazed that so much remained still untouched.
"Like travelling into the past," thought Kellard, "to come back to this part of Earth."
