생쥐들이 먹고 싶은 만큼 먹고, 놀고 싶은 만큼 놀면서 행복하게 어떤 집에 살고 있어요. 하지만 어느 날 고양이가 이사를 와요. 고양이는 생쥐들을 마구 쫓아내요. 이제 생쥐들은 모두 배가 고파서 죽을 것 같아요. 한 생쥐가 고양이 목에 방울을 달자고 하자 모든 생쥐들이 좋은 생각이라고 기뻐해요. 나이 든 생쥐는 누가 방울을 달지 물어요. 모두 답을 못해요.
