에릭은 가난하고 형인 한스는 부자예요. 어느 날 에릭은 유령에게서 마법의 제조기를 얻어요. 먹을 것을 계속 만들어내는 제조기 덕분에 에릭은 부자가 돼요. 에릭은 어부에게 제조기를 파는데 그만 어떻게 멈추는지 알려주는 것을 잊어버려요. 바다 위에서 어부는 제조기로 소금을 만들어내지만, 제조기가 멈추지 않아요. 그 제조기는 지금까지도 바다 속에서 소금을 내보내고 있어요.
