널리 알려져 인기 있는 사건이나 이야기, 민요, 연애담, 전기 따위를 수록한 평균 24 쪽 분량의
작은 책자였다.
한국에서는 1900년도,19904년도에 방각본 이라해서 조선시대의 홍길동전및 춘향전 등의 소책자가 우리나라에도 있었음.
