독일의 철학자.
그는 이 책으로 인하여 '근대 철학의 아버지'로 불리었다.

1781년에는 제1비판인《순수이성비판(Kritik der reinen Vernunft)》이라는 근대의 가장 위대한 철학서를 발표하여 유명해졌다.
