Poirot Investigates is a collection of short stories by British author Agatha Christie, first published in England by The Bodley Head in March 1924. In 11 stories, famous eccentric detective Hercule Poirot solves various mysteries involving greed, jealousy and revenge. There are three more stories in the American edition of this book, published by Dodd, Mead and Company in 1925. The first British edition included Poirot's illustration in a dust jacket by W. Smithson Broadhead, reprinted in the March 21, 1923 issue of The Sketch magazine.

Summary
The Adventure of ¡°The Western Star¡±
Poirot receives a visit from Miss Mary Marvell, a famous American actress who is visiting London. She received three letters from a Chinese man warning her to return her stunning diamond jewel, the "Star of the West," to her idol's left eye before the next full moon. The jewel was given to Mary by her husband, Gregory Rolfe, who bought it three years ago for a Chinese in San Francisco. The two plan to stay at Lord Yardley's house, Yardley Chase, but the moon is full, so they discuss making a movie there, and Mary decides to go with her diamonds...
