The story was first published as a book by Bodley Head in 1924 in the Poirot Investigates collection. The story was adapted into the TV series Agatha Christie's Poirot in 1991 starring David Suchet and, like many other early episodes, included the characters Hastings, Japp and Miss Lemon, whether or not they appeared in the original text. The first edition was published in Sketch in May 1923.
