¡°Pillar of Fire¡± is a science fiction short story written by Ray Bradbury and first published in 1948.
William Lantry is a dead man who awakens after being buried for hundreds of years. He wakes up in a future world, which is very peaceful and ethical.
In the future society, it is customary to cremate all corpses. Lantry fears he too will be cremated.
Lantry is unable to adapt to this new world and is filled with hatred. He murders several people and blows up a crematorium...
This story depicts the contrast between the dark and violent side of the past and an ideal future society, and the image of an individual wandering between them.

Summary
We cannot tell you what kind of a story this is. We simply cannot present it as we present

He couldn't breathe. He flung his arms over his face and tried to breathe. It was impossible. He walked on the earth, he came out of the earth. But he was dead. He couldn't breathe. He could take air into his mouth and force it half down his throat, with withered moves of long-dormant muscles, wildly, wildly! And with this little air he could shout and cry! He wanted to have tears,¡¦
