¡°The Star Sent Knaves¡± is a science fiction novel published in 1963 by Keith Laumer that tells the story of Dan Slane, the protagonist, who tries to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of famous paintings.
This novel presents a unique setting in which the culprit of the famous painting theft case is an alien crossing time and space. The process of finding clues to the case unfolds in an interesting way, and a twist at the end arouses curiosity. I'm looking forward to the ending and seeing what will happen between Dan, the thieves, and Kelly.

Summary
When the Great Galactic Union first encounters Earth ... is this what is going to happen?

Rich man Clyde W. Snithian has hired many guards to guard his collection of famous paintings, but Dan points out that there is actually no one in the vault. Security chief Kelly accepts Dan's offer and hires him as a vault guard.
Dan, who was working the night shift, witnesses a strange cage-shaped object appear inside the safe, and two men, calling each other Fiorello and Manny, try to steal the painting.
When Dan approaches them, they initially mistake him for an accomplice, but soon realize that their identity has been revealed and try to run away. The moment Dan suggests making a deal with them, Kelly's voice is suddenly heard... .
