Alfred Koppel's "Double Standard" is a short story published in the 1950s. This work belongs to the science fiction genre and is believed to have been published in a famous science fiction magazine at the time. The title "Double Standard" means 'double standard', which hints at the main theme of the work. The novel is set in a future society and explores the duality of social norms and ethics. Through this work, Koppel addresses ethical dilemmas and social inequalities that can result from the advancement of science and technology. The novel delicately captures the contradictions of human nature and social structures, and provides readers with an opportunity to think deeply about current and future social issues. Like Koppel's other works, "Double Standard" explores complex social and philosophical themes through the form of science fiction.

Summary
It was after oh-one-hundred when Kane arrived at my apartment. I checked the hall screen carefully before letting him in, too, though the hour almost precluded the possibility of any inquisitive passers-by.
He didn't say anything at all when he saw me, but his eyes went a bit wide. That was perfectly natural, after all. The illegal plasti-cosmetician had done his work better than well. I wasn't the same person I had been.
